National HIV Testing Mobilization Campaign

Good Idea
  • Increase the number of people who get tested for HIV;
  • Promote local, community-level discussions about HIV-related stigma and risk
    behaviors and increase the number of people engaged in these discussions; and
  • Increase the number of new partnerships and collaborations addressing HIV/AIDS
    while maintaining existing relationships.

  • Leap
    State of the Art contributed:
  • video and radio PSAs in English and Spanish for the Latino Commission on AIDS
  • youth-oriented PSAs for the National Association of People with AIDS
  • faith-oriented PSAs for the Balm in Gilead, and
  • a local community-oriented PSA for the Hyacinth AIDS Foundation in New Jersey.

  • Change
    This campain is on-going. Some outcomes to date are:
  • community groups have placed PSAs with TV and Radio broadcasters nationwide
  • PSAs were placed on organization websites and on YouTube
  • HHS offered all the materials as free downloads on their website www.aids.gov

  • The Campaign was sponsored by the HHS Office of HIV/AIDS Policy (OHAP) and managed by ESI.
